The IOM is a notable Five-seveN variant identified by its flat-front, squared trigger guard with vertical serrations and fully adjustable sights. Introduced in 2004 and later superseded by the USG, it brought the platform to a wider civilian audience while retaining duty-ready features. Stated capacity is 20+1 rounds in a full-size, lightweight package.
Its 4.8 in cold hammer-forged, chrome-lined barrel uses a 1:9.1 right-hand twist with 8-groove rifling. Sight radius is about 7.0 in, pairing a tall front blade with a fully adjustable rear sight featuring windage and elevation screws with index marks for precise zeroing.
The pistol uses a single-action, delayed-blowback system with an internal hammer. Controls include an ambidextrous manual safety and a magazine disconnect. The slide features rear diagonal serrations and a polymer slide cover over a metal slide, complemented by a trigger face with vertical grooves and FN logo grip panels.
The black polymer frame integrates a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny accessory rail on the dustcover. Overall length is approximately 8.2 in, and weight is about 1.3 lb without a magazine, offering a balanced, full-size feel.
