Produced with the "42" code on the toggle and a 1940 chamber date, this P.08 reflects Mauser’s wartime Oberndorf manufacture for German Army issue. The right receiver carries Eagle/655 acceptance stamps alongside the standard Eagle proof, and the magazine base also shows Eagle/655 acceptance.
It follows the standard Army P.08 pattern with a 4-inch barrel, stock lug, and knurled toggle knobs. The sights are the correct fixed front blade and fixed rear notch integral to the rear toggle link, as expected for service pistols of this period.
The pistol uses the classic semi-automatic, short-recoil, toggle-locked action with a manual safety. Materials are carbon steel throughout. This example shows evidence of refinish/partial deblue or aggressive cleaning, with the toggle train (both links and breechblock top), sideplate, sear bar, and portions of the safety lever polished/left in-the-white, rather than the uniform hot-salt blue with blued external small parts typical of 1940 Mauser production. Checkered walnut grips complete the full-size service configuration.
