Built on Colt’s D-frame, this Third Issue Police Positive Special combines a 4-inch carbon-steel barrel with fixed sights for a straightforward, duty-style configuration. The front sight is an integral ramp, and the rear is a top-strap groove, providing a simple and durable sight picture.
The revolver retains a blued finish over carbon-steel construction, with anti-glare grooving on the top strap and top of the frame. It has an exposed hammer with a textured spur and checkered walnut service stocks featuring silver Colt medallions and a wrap-over butt.
Operation is double-action/single-action with Colt’s Positive Lock hammer-block safety. The six-shot fluted cylinder swings out to the left, and the ejector rod is unshrouded with a knurled head, consistent with the Third Issue configuration.
Factory markings include the Colt rampant pony rollmark on the frame and the manufacturer address on the barrel. A "W" stamp appears beneath the serial on the crane, and the serial number location is on the crane (number not disclosed). This example was manufactured in the United States in 1968.
