Mauser produced this P.08 for the German Army, with the toggle marked S/42 and the chamber dated 1937. The right side of the receiver carries three Army Eagle/63 acceptance stamps, and the pistol also bears a German firing proof, aligning with expected military inspection and acceptance standards of the period.
It features the correct P.08 configuration: a 4 in 9mm barrel, fixed blade front sight, and a V-notch integral to the rear toggle. The manual safety is the classic Luger pattern with the safety well milled "GESICHERT," and the backstrap includes the stock lug. The pistol is built on a full-size, blued steel frame with checkered walnut grip panels.
The mechanical system is the Luger’s semi-automatic, short-recoil, toggle-locked action. Capacity is 8+1. The bore condition is excellent, with a clean, mirror finish and sharp rifling.
Markings and assembly numbers are present and informative: the barrel underside is marked 9095 over 8,81 (bore gauge), the receiver is marked 5204, and multiple small parts are stamped 95. Non-matching assembly numbers are noted. One included magazine has an aluminum base stamped 5657, which is non-matching to the pistol.
