The VP9 is a full-size, striker-fired 9mm built on a polymer frame with a nitrocarburized steel slide. It uses a short-recoil, modified Browning tilting-barrel system and a 4.09 in cold hammer-forged barrel with a polygonal bore. Dimensions include an overall length of 7.34 in, height of 5.41 in, width of 1.32 in, and an unloaded weight of 26.56 oz.
Ergonomics are highly configurable with interchangeable backstraps and side panels and a molded grip texture. Controls are fully ambidextrous, with slide releases on both sides and HK’s paddle-style magazine release.
The slide includes front and rear cocking serrations plus VP charging supports to aid manipulation. Sights are open type with a high-visibility green dot front and a square-notch rear, providing a 6.38 in sight radius. The slide on this pistol is the standard non-optics-cut configuration.
Safety and status features include a trigger safety, a striker status indicator, and an extractor that serves as a loaded chamber indicator. The dustcover integrates an accessory rail with multiple cross-slots. This pistol was manufactured in Germany, bears DE proof marks, and is imported by HK-USA (HKI, Columbus, GA).
