Receiver markings read "MAUSER MODELO ARGENTINO 1891. MANUFACTURA LOEWE BERLIN.", denoting pre-DWM Ludwig Loewe Berlin manufacture. The rifle retains its long rifle configuration with a 29.13 in stepped barrel and the Argentine pattern fixed, non-detachable single-column box magazine that protrudes below the stock with a hinged floorplate for a 5+1 capacity.
The action is the classic Mauser 1891 bolt system with a wing safety on a steel receiver. Inspector/proof stamps are present on the receiver (unreadable). Main components show matching visible serial numbers, a desirable detail for collectors and historians of the 1891 pattern.
Sporterization was thoughtfully executed for field use. The receiver has been drilled and tapped, and a two-piece scope base set with rings is already installed. The military stock was cut and reshaped to a sporter profile with a metal forend cap and a rear sling swivel (forend drilled for a stud, none installed), and the upper handguard and barrel bands were removed. The rifle remains chambered in 7.65x53mm Mauser and wears iron sights: a replacement simple post up front and a tangent rear sight.
