The rifle uses a straight blowback, semi-automatic action with a right-side charging handle. A cross-bolt safety with a red safety indicator provides a familiar, easy-to-see control scheme. The receiver is alloy with a black finish, and the barrel wears a traditional blued finish.
The 22-inch steel barrel features Marlin's Micro-Groove rifling. The under-barrel tubular magazine provides a stated 15+1 capacity with .22 LR, giving ample shots between reloads.
