What's Included
- Charter Arms Undercover .38 Special revolver
The Undercover is a small-frame, five-shot .38 Special with a 2-inch barrel, designed for compact carry and everyday utility. It weighs approximately 16 ounces and measures about 6.25 inches overall, balancing concealability with a full steel construction.
Construction details include a one-piece steel frame mated to a separate aluminum-alloy trigger-guard/grip-frame unit, a steel cylinder, and a steel barrel, all finished in a matte silver/gray metallic tone. The revolver wears checkered hardwood stocks with Charter Arms medallions and an exposed hammer.
It operates in double-action/single-action and incorporates a transfer-bar safety system. Controls include a forward-push cylinder latch on the left side, clockwise cylinder rotation, and a smooth trigger. The ejector rod is unshrouded; on this example the front ejector-rod head/knob is missing, leaving the rod threads exposed.
The 2-inch steel barrel uses eight-groove button rifling, and the topstrap is grooved. The fixed rear sight is a square-notch milled into the topstrap.
Markings include the barrel legend "UNDERCOVER .38 SPL." and the right-side address "CHARTER ARMS CORP. STRATFORD, CONN." This U.S.-made example reflects the features characteristic of the Stratford production period.
