The P229R configuration brings a four-slot railed dust cover to the compact P229 platform, paired with a durable, one-piece stainless-steel slide and a hard-anodized aluminum-alloy frame. The slide has rear serrations and no front serrations, providing a clean profile with reliable purchase at the rear.
Its DA/SA, hammer-fired system uses a decocking lever, with the familiar control layout that also includes a slide catch and takedown lever. The external, spurred hammer supports traditional manual operation and clear status indication.
The 3.9 in barrel uses six-groove rifling with a 1:15 twist. Sights are fixed 3-dot units, both dovetailed front and rear, offering a robust, service-style sight picture that remains secure under regular use.
