The SR1911 uses a stainless steel slide and frame with a matte finish and a stainless 5 inch Government-length barrel. The slide includes rear cocking serrations and a lowered ejection port for reliable extraction and easy manipulation. Factory markings read "RUGER MADE IN USA, PRESCOTT AZ."
Its single-action-only system pairs a skeletonized aluminum trigger with an overtravel stop and a skeletonized commander-style hammer. Safety features include an ambidextrous manual thumb safety, a beavertail grip safety, and a titanium firing pin with a heavy firing-pin spring and no firing-pin block. The magazine release is checkered for positive control.
Sight configuration is straightforward and practical: a dovetailed front blade and a Novak-style low-mount rear, forming a fixed sight setup. The pistol retains a standard GI recoil system with a short guide rod.
Grip and control surfaces include checkered hardwood double-diamond panels with Ruger medallions, a flat, checkered mainspring housing, and a smooth front strap.
