Built by W+F Bern during the WWII era, this K31 is chambered in 7.5x55mm Swiss and uses the renowned straight-pull bolt-action that employs helical cam tracks in the bolt sleeve to rotate the bolt head, with conventional front locking lugs. The action design is fast and robust, reflecting Swiss service standards of the period. The 5-round factory steel magazine included with this rifle is serialized to match the gun.
The rifle is finished in blued steel with a 25.7 in steel barrel and a blued steel receiver. Sighting is by open tangent sights: a fixed front post and a rear tangent sight with a sliding cursor and graduated range scale for precise adjustments.
The hardwood stock wears an oil finish and includes a finger groove and a right-side sling arrangement with an inletted stock bar and a steel butt-stock sling bracket. A separate wood top handguard is fitted. The front barrel band incorporates a stacking hook, and the barrel bands show triangular index stampings consistent with Swiss military assembly practices.
Markings include the Swiss cross-in-shield crest on the receiver ring. The barrel near the muzzle bears U.S. import markings: 'K31', '7.5x55 SWISS', and an importer mark ending 'MIAMI FL'. Matching serial numbers are present on the receiver, bolt, barrel shank, and magazine, with '345' observed on an additional small part.
