It retains its full military configuration with a 26" barrel, forged nickel-steel receiver, and protected iron sights. Winchester was the smallest of the three M1917 contractors, adding desirable manufacturer context for collectors.

    What’s Included
    • Winchester M1917 Enfield bolt-action rifle (San Antonio Arsenal rebuild)

This rifle is a documented San Antonio Arsenal rebuild, identified by the boxed S.A.A. cartouche on the left side of the stock. Additional military markings include a boxed P proof on the wrist, a boxed E on the left side of the stock, and the U.S. Ordnance flaming bomb on the barrel/receiver area, along with other small proof-style stamps on select components.

Manufactured in 1918 in the United States by Winchester Repeating Arms, it features a forged nickel-steel receiver and the M1917’s characteristic cock-on-closing operation. Winchester was the smallest of the three M1917 contractors, a detail that appeals to buyers who track maker distribution within this model family.

The rifle retains its original-style military furniture: a full-length, oil-finished black walnut stock with grasping grooves and sling swivels, paired with a two-piece walnut top handguard. The length of pull measures 13.5", offering a traditional service-rifle fit.

Its 26" barrel is matched with protected iron sights: a front blade with protective ears and a receiver-mounted aperture ladder rear sight that is elevation adjustable and also protected by ears. Feeding is via a 6-round internal magazine, maintaining the rifle’s period-correct configuration.
