Produced in the United States as part of Colt’s Authentic Blackpowder Series, this 2nd Generation Model 1860 Army retains the iconic lines and operation of the original cap-and-ball design. It is built as a single-action percussion revolver in .44 caliber with an 8-inch round barrel.
The revolver wears a nickel-plated finish over the barrel, frame, cylinder, loading lever, trigger guard, and backstrap. The six-chamber percussion cylinder is roll-engraved with the Ormsby naval battle scene and features standard stop notches with approach ramps, nipples, and safety pins between the nipples. The capping reliefs are correctly machined into the frame’s recoil shields to allow access for capping.
Authentic period-style markings are present: the barrel is marked "ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA," the frame "COLTS PATENT," and the caliber marking "44 CAL." The barrel assembly is wedge-retained and paired with a creeping loading lever.
Construction is steel throughout the barrel, frame, receiver, and cylinder, complemented by a one-piece walnut grip. Sighting is by a fixed blade front and hammer-notch rear, with an external hammer. Numbers are not matching across all components; the frame/barrel/cylinder assembly shows 095, while the backstrap is stamped 568.
