This Special Edition was built to mirror key features of the service M9. It is a limited run of 10,000 with a dedicated M9-xxxx serial range and includes a factory Certificate of Authenticity. Production took place in Accokeek, Maryland, during 1998–2000, aligning this example with the period-correct configuration and markings.
The slide carries military-style contract markings: "U.S. 9mm M9 - BERETTA U.S.A. - 65490" on one side and "ASSY 9346487-65490" on the other. It uses the open-top slide pattern with a matte dark finish and a matte gray exposed barrel. Markings also include the PB oval logo and a laser-etched "P M."
The non-railed 92-series frame has the slanted/angled dust cover and a lanyard loop. Controls include a slide-mounted ambidextrous safety/decocker with a red index dot and a left-side magazine release. The fixed sights pair a white-dot front blade with a rear notch featuring a white vertical bar. Checkered black polymer grip panels with Beretta medallions complete the full-size setup.
Chambered in 9mm Luger, the pistol features a 4.92 in barrel and a 15+1 capacity. This example ships with the OD-green field gear set (M12 holster, M015 web belt, and MU25 magazine pouch), the factory OD-green Special Edition box, the COA, and both the Beretta 92FS instruction booklet and a U.S. M9 operator's manual reprint.
