Product Description

    Charter Arms Undercover .38 Special, First-Generation Bridgeport-Marked, 2-Inch, 5-Shot, Blued Steel Revolver

This first-generation Charter Arms Undercover stands out with its Bridgeport, Connecticut barrel address and compact 2-inch format. It features the early one-piece steel frame design and classic fixed sights, paired with walnut grip panels bearing Charter Arms medallions. A blued finish, five-shot fluted cylinder, and DA/SA operation with a transfer-bar safety round out this American-made revolver from the 1960s–early 1970s era.

Key first-generation details include the sideplate-less steel frame mated to an aluminum-alloy trigger-guard/grip-frame subassembly and an unshrouded short ejector rod with a knurled tip. The topstrap carries the integral rear sight, and the left-side checkered latch controls the five-shot fluted cylinder. Fixed sights consist of a serrated ramped front and a square-notch rear integral to the topstrap.

The external spurred hammer and smooth-face trigger support double-action/single-action operation. The exposed steel backstrap and butt contribute to the compact profile, while the blued finish ties together the period-correct look. A "P" stamp is present on the cylinder face.

The Undercover’s compact size and 2-inch steel barrel make it an easily carried .38 Special. This example retains its original character with steel construction throughout the barrel, frame, and cylinder, and walnut grip panels with Charter Arms medallions.
