Built on Colt's full-size 1911 platform, this Government Model Series 70 pairs classic single-action, short-recoil, locked-breech operation with a 5-inch National Match barrel. It is chambered in .45 ACP with a 7+1 capacity and wears fixed GI-style sights with a front blade and rear square-notch.
The commemorative treatment includes polished blued steel and gold-inlaid decorative panels, highlighted by gold-on-black scroll and dragon motifs. Engraved text reads: "1959 ★★ VIETNAM WAR ★★ 1975 - COMMEMORATIVE TRIBUTE .45 - 'NO ONE COULD HAVE DONE IT BETTER'," accompanied by a sun/star emblem.
Many controls and hardware components feature a gold-tone finish, including the trigger, slide stop, thumb safety, hammer, magazine release, and grip screws. The grips are double-diamond checkered walnut with a left-side gold Colt medallion and a right-side enamel 'IN HONOR OF THE VIETNAM WAR' badge.
As a Series 70, this pistol does not use a firing-pin safety. It is identified by Colt's part number O1911C-AR, and the factory case label matches the pistol. Made in the USA, it comes with a fitted wooden presentation display case and a single-stack steel magazine with '45 ACP' stamped on the magazine body near the bottom.
