The XD-E operates with a hammer-fired DA/SA action and includes an ambidextrous manual safety/decocker, giving the user both modes of fire and safe handling options. Its exposed bobbed hammer offers clear status at a glance. A top-mounted loaded-chamber indicator provides both visual and tactile confirmation.
Durability-focused construction includes a forged steel slide and a Melonite-treated, hammer-forged barrel. The 3.3" barrel uses a 1:10 RH twist. The slide wears a black Melonite finish for corrosion resistance and consistent surface hardness.
Sight elements are dovetailed: a red fiber-optic front and a low-profile two-dot rear. The setup is designed for clear sight acquisition while remaining secure in the slide’s dovetail cuts.
The compact, slim single-stack design offers a 9+1 capacity. The black polymer frame uses factory 'Grip Zone' texturing. Additional identifiers include the mfg. part number XDE9339BE for the 3.3" 9mm black variant, proof marks reading "Made in Croatia, SPRINGFIELD ARMORY U.S.A.", and matching serial numbers on the frame, slide, and barrel.
