Ruger's first-year SR1911, this Government-size .45 ACP Model 6700 was manufactured in 2011 in Prescott, Arizona to coincide with the M1911 centennial. It features Series-70-style lockwork with a titanium firing pin, a stainless investment-cast frame, and a slide and barrel machined from bar stock. The barrel and bushing are matched from the same bar stock for consistent lock-up, and the pistol features a stainless slide, frame, and most small parts, with contrasting black sights and a black mainspring housing.
The slide is cut with rear serrations and a lowered, flared ejection port; a barrel-hood visual inspection port is visible through the ejection port. Novak-pattern 3-dot sights are drift-adjustable, with a dovetailed blade front and a dovetailed square-notch rear for a clean, practical sight picture.
Controls are set up for single-action operation with an extended left-side thumb safety and an upswept beavertail grip safety with a memory bump. A skeletonized three-hole trigger and a skeletonized Commander-style hammer complete the classic, performance-focused 1911 configuration.
Diamond-checkered hardwood grips with Ruger medallions provide a secure hold. The 5-inch stainless barrel uses a 1:16 right-hand twist, and the single-stack magazine system offers an 8+1 capacity in .45 ACP.
