The MARS-LS lower delivers fully ambidextrous controls, including a right-side bolt catch/release, ambidextrous safety selector, and ambidextrous magazine release. This setup caters to both left- and right-handed use without compromise on an AR-15 platform.
The upper is LMT's Monolithic Rail Platform (MRP), a one-piece 7075-T6 aluminum receiver/handguard with a quad-rail layout. It uses a quick-change barrel interface secured by two front cross-bolts and provides a continuous MIL-STD-1913 top rail with position indices labeled T2–T28, L18–L28, and R18–R44.
The barrel measures 13.7 in and is permanently pinned and welded to achieve an overall legal barrel length of approximately 16.5 in. A multi-port brake/compensator is pinned and welded in place, and the rifle operates via a semi-automatic, direct-impingement system.
Furniture includes a 6-position collapsible polymer stock with QD sling socket and adjustable length of pull, plus a rubberized, finger-grooved pistol grip. There are no iron sights or optics installed, and the continuous Picatinny rail space supports mounting of preferred sighting systems. Receiver markings include LMT DEFENSE, ELDRIDGE IA USA, MULTI-CAL, and MARS-LS, with patent markings US 8,234,806 B2, US 8,561,337 B2, and CA 2485710 present.
