This 442-1 is the DAO, enclosed-hammer Centennial variant, offering snag-resistant operation with an internal hammer and a smooth, curved trigger. The barrel is marked ".38 S&W SPL +P," confirming its +P rating, and the frame carries the "Airweight" designation along with "SPFLD, MA S&W U.S.A." markings and S&W trade-mark logos on both sides.
It uses a 1.875 in barrel and a five-shot fluted carbon steel cylinder, paired with a knurled ejector rod tip and a short underlug. The lightweight aluminum alloy frame and matte black finish contribute to its compact, carry-friendly format without adding unnecessary bulk.
The fixed sighting system includes an integral serrated ramp front sight and a fixed top-strap groove rear. The double-action-only trigger is smooth and consistent, aligning with the enclosed-hammer configuration.
Factory grips are black textured S&W boot-style synthetic panels with S&W medallions, cut for the round-butt J-frame profile. This example does not show an internal lock hole on the left side of the frame.
