The slick-side fixed carry-handle upper omits both the forward assist and case deflector and carries an A1-pattern rear aperture adjustable for windage only. Up front, an adjustable front sight post sits in the front sight base. The rifle uses a rifle-length gas system.
The 20" steel barrel is a lightweight/pencil profile with a threaded muzzle wearing the A1-pattern open 6-slot flash suppressor. The front sight base includes a standard bayonet lug. The rifle’s front sling point is on a clamp-on band at the front handguard cap; the FSB has no integral/riveted sling swivel installed.
Furniture is true to the period: a one-piece, smooth, round tubular handguard with elongated oval ventilation slots, a straight slip ring and round front cap, a fixed rifle stock with trapdoor/checkered buttplate and rear sling swivel, and an A2-style checkered pistol grip.
