The permanently attached GP7 Mod 5, combined with the original 10.5 inch barrel, yields an 18 inch barrel assembly. This fixed attachment makes the suppressor a physical extension of the barrel, so the firearm meets rifle barrel length requirements rather than short-barreled rifle parameters.
As configured, only the suppressor requires a tax stamp; this is a singular NFA item. The rifle itself is not considered an SBR because the pinned and welded assembly produces an 18 inch barrel length.
The JAKL’s long-stroke gas piston, externally adjustable gas block with a top-mounted control knob, and internal recoil system contained in the upper allow the folding, adjustable polymer stock without a buffer tube. The right-side charging handle is reversible, and the one-piece upper/handguard provides a full-length 1913 Picatinny top rail with M-LOK slots at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock.
Chambered in 5.56 NATO, the lower is marked 'JAKL 5.56 NATO' and 'Palmetto State Armory - West Columbia, S.C.' The platform uses AR-15 pattern magazines and arrives with no iron sights or optics installed. The Flat Dark Earth finish extends across the receivers and furniture for a cohesive, durable look.
