Commissioned by distributor Lew Horton circa 2006–2007, the Model 27-8 Registered Magnum Exclusive delivers limited-run appeal with custom shop tuning and period-correct styling cues. The high-polish carbon-steel construction and 5-inch barrel present a faithful nod to the original Registered Magnum look while keeping modern production precision.
Its N-frame configuration features an eight-shot fluted cylinder chambered in .357 Magnum and a DA/SA action. An internal keyed lock sits above the cylinder latch. The barrel adds a long underlug with an ejector shroud lightening slot, while the topstrap and rib are checkered in the Registered Magnum style.
Target-focused iron sights include a pinned ramp front with a gold bead and a fully adjustable rear. Checkered hardwood target stocks with S&W medallions complete the package and provide a secure, traditional grip to match the aesthetic and balance of the 5-inch profile.
Markings include the S&W trademark crest on the sideplate and the standard factory line "MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS." The yoke cut is stamped "27-8" with an additional "460" stamp, aligning with the model’s mid-2000s production details.
