Its alloy-steel, rifled barrel sits within a polymer shroud and shows a visible steel liner. The design also incorporates an underlug with an open ejector-rod channel that leaves the rod exposed along its length for a streamlined profile.
The revolver uses a 5-shot fluted alloy-steel cylinder with a matte black oxide finish. Model markings, including PUBLIC DEFENDER POLY, appear on the polymer barrel shroud/top strap, while the cylinder itself is unmarked aside from its flutes. Proofs and origin stamps include Taurus Int’l Mfg – Miami, FL – USA, Made in Brazil, and PAT. PEND, with Taurus bull logos on the frame and grip.
