Built as the first-generation SIG Pro polymer-framed duty pistol that predates the SP2022, this SP 2340 offers core SIG design elements in a compact package. The frame is Swiss-made with molded "Frame made in Switzerland" text and the SIG oval logo, and the slide is import-marked "SIG Arms Inc., EXETER–NH–USA" on the left side, underscoring its early production origin. The SP00 serial prefix aligns with early SIG Pro numbering.
The pistol uses the proven DA/SA operating system with SIG’s left-side decocking lever and a separate slide stop for intuitive control. It also features a left-side, triangular magazine release, a curved trigger, and an external spurred hammer, staying true to the SIG Pro control layout.
Construction highlights include a 3.9 inch steel barrel, a steel slide with rear serrations (no forward serrations), and a matte gray/silver slide finish contrasted against the black polymer frame (two-tone). The polymer frame incorporates a modular, wrap-around textured grip shell with "sig pro" branding for a secure hold. The rounded trigger guard includes horizontal grasping grooves. An early proprietary accessory rail is integrated into the dust cover.
Sighting is handled by fixed 3-dot (white) sights with a single white front dot and two white rear dots for quick alignment. Capacity is 10+1 in .40 S&W, and this example includes one 10-round steel magazine with a finger-rest basepad tailored for the SP 2340.
