The Lightweight Commander pairs the classic 1911 design with an aluminum-alloy frame to reduce weight while retaining the familiar ergonomics and controls. Its compact footprint and 4.25-inch barrel deliver the traditional Commander balance in .45 ACP with a 7+1 capacity.
The slide is finished in matte black and cut with rear cocking serrations. A lowered and flared ejection port supports reliable ejection, and the standard 1911 barrel bushing with short recoil spring plug maintains the traditional Commander setup.
Sighting is handled by a Novak Lo-Mount rear and a dovetailed front blade with a white dot, providing a clean, low-profile sight picture suited to the Commander format.
Controls include a beavertail grip safety with memory bump, a single-sided manual thumb safety, and a checkered magazine release. A lightly beveled magazine well aids reloads, while the front strap is smooth. Red/black checkered grips with a large molded “COLT” logo (no round medallion inserts) round out the grip frame.
The fire-control system uses a long, three-hole, lightweight skeletonized trigger matched with a skeletonized commander-style hammer. The platform is single-action only, consistent with the 1911 design, and is manufactured in the United States.
