This Model 586 no-dash is built on the robust S&W L-frame and configured as the "Distinguished Combat Magnum." It features a 6-inch heavy barrel with a full-length underlug and a shrouded ejector rod. The top rib is serrated to cut glare, complementing the adjustable iron sights for precise aiming.
The revolver is finished in a high-polish blue over carbon steel, including the frame, cylinder, and barrel. It uses a six-shot fluted cylinder and DA/SA operation. The square-butt frame is fitted with checkered wood target stocks bearing S&W medallions.
Sight equipment includes an adjustable rear sight paired with a ramp front sight that has an orange/red insert for enhanced visibility. This combination, along with the 6-inch barrel length, supports accurate shooting with .357 Magnum or .38 Special loads.
Factory markings are present as expected: the S&W crest/logo on the left sideplate; "MADE IN U.S.A.
