This Government Model retains the classic 1911 configuration with a government-length 5-inch barrel and barrel bushing, paired with a blued steel frame and slide. The slide presents polished flats with a matte top and rounds, vertical rear serrations, and no front serrations, offering a period-correct Series 80 appearance.
Factory markings include "COLT MK IV SERIES 80" and "GOVERNMENT MODEL" slide legends, a barrel hood marked "COLT 45 AUTO," and the right-frame rollmark "COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN.
U.S.A." An inspector numeral "1" is stamped on the right front trigger guard.
Controls and ergonomics are classic Colt: single-action operation, a left-side-only manual thumb safety, grip safety, arched and serrated mainspring housing, smooth front strap, a short solid trigger, and a spurred hammer. The pistol is equipped with high-profile fixed 3-dot sights, with a staked front and a dovetailed, square-notch rear.
Full-checkered wood grip panels with gold Colt medallions round out the traditional look. Capacity is 7+1, and this example includes one 7-round magazine.
