Ernst Thälmann East German Makarov PM 9x18mm, 1962, DA/SA, High-Polish Blue, 3.7 in Fixed Barrel, Matching Numbers
Made in East Germany in 1962, this Makarov PM was produced by VEB Fahrzeug- und Jagdwaffenwerk 'Ernst Thälmann' in Suhl. It is a compact, steel-framed 9x18mm pistol with a fixed 3.7 in barrel, double-action/single-action operation, and matching serial numbers on the slide and frame. Distinct import and inspection marks, a high-polish blued finish, and an installed wrap-around rubber grip set this example apart for buyers who value clear provenance and practical features.
The PM-pattern design uses a straight-blowback system with the recoil spring around the barrel, delivering the classic fixed-barrel configuration. Controls include a slide-mounted safety/decocker and an external spurred hammer, with an 8+1 capacity and a lanyard loop at the heel. Overall length is approximately 6.3 in, keeping it firmly in the compact class.
The slide wears vertical rear serrations and an anti-glare rib with longitudinal serrations. Sighting is straightforward and durable, with a fixed integral front blade and a drift-adjustable rear notch. The steel frame and slide share a high-polish blued finish.
Markings include the importer mark C.D.I., Swan, VT; an import stamp reading Germany; a boxed K100; a lozenge mark on the left frame; and a '62' over 'a' stamp on the right rear of the frame. These details, together with the matching slide and frame numbers, provide clear identification and authenticity of origin.
A one-piece wrap-around black rubber grip with textured panels is installed, giving this PM a clean, functional grip setup while retaining the mechanical and cosmetic hallmarks associated with East German manufacture.
