The Model 7400 is a gas-operated, rotating-bolt semi-automatic built for hunting in .270 Win, with a 22-inch barrel and 4+1 capacity. It wears a blued finish with gloss walnut stock and matching walnut forend, plus checkering at the grip and forend for secure handling. A black checkered Remington buttplate completes the classic field setup.
Factory sights include a ramped front sight and a fully adjustable rear barrel sight. The receiver is drilled and tapped and accepts standard Remington 740/742/7400/750/760/7600 scope bases.
As part of Remington’s autoloading lineage (740 → 742 → 7400 → 750), the 7400 incorporates engineering updates over the 742: a four-lug bolt, improved gas seal, a hardened steel receiver insert, and heavier action bars. These refinements are specific to the 7400’s design evolution.
