Sharon Rifle Barrel Hawken .50 Cal Percussion Caplock, 32" Octagon Barrel, Double Set Triggers, 1970s Kit-Built Reproduction
This 1970s Sharon Rifle Barrel Hawken is a kit-built, U.S.-made .50 caliber percussion caplock with hallmark Sharon components. The 32-inch octagonal barrel is top-flat stamped "SHARON RIFLE BARREL .50 CAL," with "FOR BLACK POWDER ONLY" roll-marked on an adjacent barrel flat, reflecting the company's short-lived but respected run of Hawken kits and barrels before operations ended in 1978. Classic brass furniture, double set triggers, and a half-stock with raised cheekpiece complete a traditional Hawken pattern that appeals to shooters and builders of period-style muzzleloaders.

Built using Sharon Rifle Barrel Co. components, this Hawken-style rifle reflects the maker’s 1970s kit legacy. The barrel is clearly marked on the top flat, with "FOR BLACK POWDER ONLY" on an adjacent flat, designating black powder use. Sharon ceased operations in 1978, with remaining kits sold into 1979–1980, making original Sharon-marked pieces recognizable to enthusiasts of period-correct reproductions.
The rifle features a 32-inch octagonal .50 caliber barrel secured by a single wedge with a brass escutcheon. It uses a percussion caplock ignition and is a single-shot muzzleloader. Open sights include a dovetailed front blade and a dovetailed adjustable rear leaf for practical sighting.
The hardwood half-stock incorporates a raised cheekpiece and a 14.0-inch length of pull. Brass furniture includes the crescent buttplate, patchbox, trigger guard, nosecap, and ramrod thimbles, delivering the classic Hawken profile and handling characteristics associated with this pattern.
Controls and appointments include traditional double set triggers for precise let-off. The right-side lockplate shows scroll engraving with a case-colored appearance, adding period styling consistent with many custom-assembled Hawken reproductions of the era.
