The 48 AL uses a Browning-type long-recoil action with a user-adjustable friction recoil governor, giving the shooter the ability to tune the system for different 28-gauge loads. The receiver is aluminum alloy with a black/gray finish for reduced weight, and the shotgun retains right-side ejection with a bright bolt and rounded bolt handle.
The 26-inch steel barrel features a vent rib with a front bead and accepts screw-in chokes. A Modified choke is installed in the barrel, and two additional flush tubes (Full and Improved Cylinder) are included. The chamber is 2.75 inches to match common 28-gauge ammunition.
Stocked in satin-finished walnut, the gun includes cut checkering on the pistol grip and a rubber recoil pad. Length of pull is 14.0 inches. Controls are straightforward with a cross-bolt safety and the familiar rounded charging handle.
