Ruger’s AR-556 combines forged 7075-T6 aluminum receivers with a durable Type III hard-coat anodized finish and a carbine-length gas system. The 16.1 inch chrome-moly steel barrel is cold hammer-forged with M4 feed ramps and a 1:8 twist to stabilize a wide range of 5.56mm projectiles. The muzzle is threaded 1/2x28 and topped with an A2 birdcage flash suppressor.
The flat-top Picatinny upper includes a forward assist, ejection-port cover, brass deflector, and a fixed F-height A2-style front sight tower. Furniture consists of a two-piece polymer carbine-length handguard, a Ruger-marked polymer pistol grip, and a six-position collapsible polymer stock. Length of pull is 13.0 inches.
This example is customized with a Barska 3-9x42 IR scope mounted in a pair of Picatinny scope rings for secure, repeatable attachment. An added 6 o'clock rail section on the handguard hosts the included vertical foregrip. The rifle retains a clean, all-black finish throughout.
Chambered in 5.56mm NATO with a 30+1 capacity, this semi-automatic, direct impingement rifle includes a manual safety. Markings include the Ruger phoenix crest and "RUGER MAYODAN, NC USA," reflecting its U.S. manufacture at Ruger’s Mayodan facility.
