The Model 500 is built on S&W’s X-Frame as a five-shot revolver with an unfluted stainless steel cylinder, purpose-built for the .500 S&W Magnum cartridge. The brushed/satin stainless frame and barrel shroud are complemented by a bright polished unfluted stainless cylinder, delivering durable, corrosion-resistant construction with a factory mixed-finish appearance.
Its 4.0-inch barrel sits under a heavy shroud and is fitted with a removable multi-ported compensator to vent gases and reduce muzzle rise. The barrel and shroud are rollmarked “SMITH & WESSON” and “500 S&W MAGNUM,” and the yoke cut is marked “MOD 500.”
Sights are iron: an adjustable rear sight paired with a pinned red ramp front sight for a clear sight picture. The revolver uses a double-action/single-action trigger system and includes S&W’s internal lock.
Ergonomics are handled by a black synthetic finger-groove Hogue-style monogrip with molded S&W logos, providing a secure hold on the XL-format X-Frame. Overall length is 10.25 inches, and weight is 56.5 ounces, offering a stable platform for the caliber.
