The SUB2000 Gen 3 configuration here is set up for 5.7x28mm and uses FN Five-seveN handgun magazines; the receiver is marked "FN 57 MAG." The listed capacity is 30+1, and this example includes both standard- and extended-length magazine types.
Its folding hinged-barrel design with a rotating forend allows the carbine to fold even with a top-mounted accessory in place. Overall length is 30.45 in when extended and 16.15 in when folded. Unloaded weight is approximately 4.6 lb, making it easy to stow and carry.
The rifle has a 16.15 in steel barrel that is threaded 1/2x28 TPI and cut with a 1:7 twist. It runs a straight blowback action and includes an aluminum trigger and an underslung, round charging handle.
The polymer forend provides full-length Picatinny rails at 12 and 6 o'clock. Furniture includes a multi-position, skeletonized polymer stock and a waffle-textured polymer grip. The serialized steel receiver/bolt-tube core adds rigidity within the polymer frame.
Made in the USA, the receiver is marked "KEL-TEC Cocoa, FL SUB2000," and the right panel reads "KEL TEC CNC INC COCOA FL - MADE IN USA."
