The SD9 VE is a striker-fired, full-size 9mm built with Smith & Wesson’s Self Defense Trigger. It uses a 4-inch steel barrel and ships with a 16+1 capacity, supported here by three included factory 16-round magazines.
The slide wears a stainless finish with sculpted flats and both front and rear cocking serrations for confident manipulation. The black polymer frame features molded texturing with S&W medallions and includes an accessory rail on the dust cover. The two-tone stainless/black finish presents a clean, functional look.
Factory sights are a 3-dot iron set with a white-dot front and a two-dot rear that is drift-adjustable. An installed Crimson Trace Laserguard red laser, designed specifically for SD/SD VE pistols, provides dual-side activation and user-adjustable windage and elevation.
This example is the non-CA LCI slide variant, with no raised or tactile loaded-chamber indicator on top of the slide. Factory markings include “SMITH & WESSON SD9 VE” and “SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MA U.S.A.” on the slide, and “- 9 MM -” on the barrel hood. The frame is marked “CAUTION: Capable of firing with magazine removed.” Made in the United States.
