Built by Izhmash in Russia, this Saiga 7.62x39 Sporter was imported prior to the July 2014 U.S. sanctions that ended Russian Saiga imports. It uses the AK-pattern long-stroke gas system with a rotating bolt and a stamped, dimpled receiver, combining proven reliability with collectible Russian origin and factory markings.
The rifle retains its original sporter FCG/trigger position; stock and grip have been replaced with Tapco pistol‑grip/collapsible furniture (original Monte Carlo stock included). It uses a detachable box magazine system with a stated capacity of 30+1. Sighting is via iron sights with a front post and tangent rear. The 16-inch barrel is externally threaded at the muzzle, and no device is installed. The receiver includes the factory right-side optics/accessory rail.
Upgrades include a Tapco USA adjustable/collapsible buttstock with rubber buttpad and a Tapco USA pistol grip. The lower handguard is tan, ventilated polymer with an accessory rail, and an angled foregrip is installed. Length of pull is adjustable to approximately 11–15 inches.
Additional details include a charging-handle knob/extension, a black-finished stamped steel receiver, and a front sling loop under the fore-end. Markings include the Izhmash triangle-with-arrow proof, "MADE IN RUSSIA BY IZH MASH," "САЙГА" (Cyrillic Saiga), and "SAIGA 7.62x39." No cleaning rod is observed.
