Built on the S&W K-frame and designated the Combat Magnum, the Model 19-5 pairs a .357 Magnum chambering with a six-shot fluted cylinder and a 6 inch barrel for a long sight radius and controllable performance. It also accepts .38 Special ammunition.
The carbon steel frame, barrel, and cylinder wear a high-polish blue finish. A ribbed top with a serrated topstrap reduces glare, while the barrel’s partial underlug and ejector-rod shroud provide protection and balance.
Sighting is handled by a serrated, ramped front sight and a micrometer-click adjustable rear sight. The revolver uses a double-action/single-action mechanism with a smooth-face, color casehardened trigger and an exposed hammer with a wide, checkered spur for confident control.
Target-style checkered wood stocks with S&W medallions and a square-butt profile give a secure, hand-filling grip. Factory markings include the S&W circular "TRADE MARK" logo on the right sideplate and "MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS." on the right side of the frame.
