Constructed with a stainless steel frame and slide in matte stainless, the Model 5906 delivers the robust Third Generation build known for duty service. Its short-recoil, tilting-barrel, locked-breech system is paired with an external extractor and a lowered ejection port.
The DA/SA action includes an ambidextrous slide-mounted safety/decocker, a firing pin block, and a magazine disconnect safety. Controls include a left-side push-button magazine release and an exposed spur hammer. The one-piece wraparound textured synthetic grip with S&W medallion provides a secure interface.
Sight alignment is straightforward with a factory sight setup: a ramped front blade and a factory rear sight. Capacity is 15+1, and this pistol includes one factory 15-round S&W magazine.
This non-TSW, full-size configuration features a full-length dust cover with no accessory rail, a slightly beveled magazine well for easier reloads, and a rounded trigger guard.
