The MCX-SPEAR LT uses a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston system with a 2-position adjustable gas valve for suppressed or unsuppressed settings. Controls are fully ambidextrous, including the safety selector and bolt catch/release, and the platform includes an ejection-port dust cover and case deflector with no forward assist.
Its 16 inch cold hammer forged carbon steel barrel is threaded and fitted with a three-prong flash hider. The 1:9.5 twist rate is configured for the 7.62x39 cartridge, and the bore condition is excellent.
The rifle is equipped with a side-folding, telescoping SIG SAUER-branded skeleton stock with a 12.25 inch length of pull, plus an AR-style rear charging handle and a curved trigger. Capacity is 28+1, and one 28-round magazine is included.
An aluminum free-float M-LOK handguard includes a continuous 1913 Picatinny top rail for mounting accessories that aligns with the receiver rail. The aluminum receivers wear a coyote anodized finish, and the rifle is made in the USA.
