This Weatherby Vanguard VGX in 7mm Rem. Mag. pairs the classic Howa-made Vanguard action with a richly appointed walnut stock and a mounted Simmons 3-10x44 scope. Built in Japan with a 24-inch blued sporter barrel and a right-hand, two-lug push-feed system, it combines proven mechanics with premium VGX stock detailing and a ready-to-use optic setup.

There is widespread heavy rust on the barrel, hinged floorplate, bolt, and receiver. The scope rings also show rust. The walnut stock has noticeable scratches, dents, and blemishes. The extent of metal corrosion and stock wear makes it suitable for a restoration project.

The Vanguard VGX is the walnut-and-rosewood variant of Weatherby’s proven Vanguard line. This example is chambered in 7mm Rem. Mag. and is built on the Howa-made two-lug, push-feed action with a right-hand bolt. It feeds from a 3+1 internal box magazine with floorplate bottom metal.
It features a 24 in blued steel sporter-contour barrel and a blued steel receiver. The receiver is drilled and tapped, and this rifle is configured without iron sights.
The high-gloss walnut stock includes a Monte Carlo comb, fine checkering, rosewood forend tip and pistol-grip cap with a white diamond inlay, a ventilated recoil pad with white-line spacer, and sling swivel studs. Length of pull measures 13.25 in.
A Simmons 3-10x44 scope is installed on two-piece bases with rings and uses a standard crosshair reticle. The included Simmons 3-10x44 Scope adds practical magnification for hunting or range work in this chambering.
