Built by Izhmash in Russia, this Saiga retains hallmark AK-pattern construction with a stamped-steel receiver, smooth top cover, and magazine well dimples. It was imported by Russian American Armory Company (RAAC), Scottsburg, IN, prior to the 2014 U.S. sanctions on Russian-made firearms, and carries factory markings including the Izhevsk triangle-arrow proof, the Cyrillic "САЙГА" model mark, and "MADE IN RUSSIA BY IZHMASH."
The rifle is in the original sporter configuration with the rear-positioned Saiga trigger group and a manual bolt-hold-open lever. There is no left-side optics rail. The muzzle is plain and unthreaded with a clean crown, and there is no bayonet lug.
It uses AK-pattern iron sights with a protected front post and an adjustable tangent rear. The action is semi-automatic with a long-stroke gas piston system and a manual safety lever, chambered in .223 Rem for versatile use with commonly available ammunition.
Furniture includes a black polymer Monte Carlo stock with textured grip surfaces, a buttstock trapdoor, and a sling swivel, paired with a polymer sporter handguard. Length of pull is 13.5 in, and overall finish is black. Capacity is 30+1 with the included detachable box magazine.
