The Performance Center Competitor variant stands out with its heavy 6-inch barrel shroud featuring oval windows and a full-length underlug. The shroud houses a weighted barrel system with removable cylindrical weights retained by a front hex screw, delivering the distinctive Competitor profile.
Built on the stainless steel S&W N-frame, this 629-6 uses a fluted six-shot cylinder and a matte stainless finish on the frame, barrel, and cylinder. The top strap is factory drilled and tapped for an optics base, adding flexibility for sighting solutions if desired.
The revolver is DA/SA with a Performance Center tuned action and a smooth-face trigger. It uses an external hammer with a checkered spur for positive control. Sights include a plain black square-topped (Patridge-style) front blade and a micrometer-adjustable rear sight for precise alignment.
Ergonomics are addressed with black synthetic finger-groove grips bearing S&W medallions. An internal keyed lock is included. Chambers are cut for .44 Magnum and also accept .44 Special. Roll-marks include MADE IN U.S.A. and the S&W round logo.
