The Taurus Model 605 Protector Poly is a small-frame, five-shot .357 Mag revolver built with a polymer outer frame and steel reinforcement. This later-production example features a Flat Dark Earth finish, a matte-black fluted steel cylinder, and a bright, clean bore. Fixed sights include an orange fiber-optic front ramp with protective ears. Markings include "Taurus Armas Made in Brazil" and the Bainbridge, GA importer rollmark.

This Protector Poly variant combines a polymer outer frame/shroud with steel reinforcement for durability, paired with a steel 2.0 in barrel and a fluted matte-black steel cylinder. The Flat Dark Earth frame contrasts with the black components, and the factory black rubber Ribber grips with Taurus medallions provide a secure hold.
Operation is double-action/single-action with an exposed, checkered hammer spur. Controls include a left-side push-forward cylinder latch and a shrouded ejector rod with a knurled tip. This revolver is not equipped with the Taurus Security System keyed lock.
Sight picture is straightforward and durable: an orange fiber-optic front ramp with protective ears and a fixed rear trough on the topstrap. The topstrap is marked "PROTECTOR POLY."
Chambered in .357 Mag and rated to also fire .38 Special +P, this small-frame five-shot revolver measures approximately 6.7 in overall length, 4.5 in height, and 1.40 in width, with an unloaded weight of about 20.0 oz.
