Built around a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston system with a rotating bolt, the SCAR 20S is configured for stable 7.62x51 NATO performance. The barrel is threaded and fitted with a two-port PROCOMP muzzle brake, and it uses a 1:10 twist rate.
The extended monolithic receiver carries a full-length MIL-STD-1913 top rail with T-markings, plus accessory rails at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions. No iron sights are installed from the factory.
A precision fixed stock offers tool-less adjustability for comb height and length of pull, with an underside rail segment for accessories. The factory two-stage match trigger is rated at 3.5–4.5 lb for a consistent, predictable press.
Finished in matte black, this rifle is marked "FN COLUMBIA, SC USA / SCAR 20S MULTI-CALIBER" with the FN oval rollmark on the receiver. The barrel is stamped "MP [FN logo] 7.62 x 51MM 1:10." It uses 10-round steel detachable box magazines and ships here with three magazines.
