The M48 uses the proven Mauser 98–type controlled-round-feed system in an intermediate-length action, paired with a fixed 5-round internal magazine. The turned-down bolt handle with a large round knob provides solid hand purchase, and the Mauser three-position flag safety offers positive, intuitive control. The bolt body is left in the white, consistent with original military configuration.
Barrel and sighting gear are set up for field reliability: a 23.25-inch barrel, a tangent rear sight, and a hooded front sight. This example features factory front sight protection, and carries a full-length upper handguard that extends to just before the receiver ring. Two barrel bands secure the furniture, with the front band showing oval lightening cuts.
The hardwood stock includes a left-side sling slot and a cupped steel buttplate. Length of pull measures 13 inches. A leather sling is installed, and the cleaning rod is present under the barrel. These features complete the rifle’s correct military pattern and ready-to-use presentation.
Notable details for collectors include matching serial numbers on the receiver, bolt, and buttstock, and faint circular acceptance/cartouche marks on the underside of the stock. Originating from Yugoslavia, this M48 retains the core features that define the model while presenting in clean, serviceable condition.
