Built in the late 1980s, this TEC-9 comes in its standard pre-ban configuration produced before the 1994 ban, including a threaded muzzle and a perforated, ventilated barrel shroud around the fixed heavy 5 inch barrel. Capacity is 30+1, using the included straight steel box magazine.
The operating system is simple blowback, closed-bolt, semiautomatic. It uses the standard top-mounted, reciprocating charging knob and a cross-bolt safety. The upper receiver features a long top slot with a right-side ejection port. Sling provisions consist of a front formed-wire loop on the barrel shroud and a rear formed-wire loop mounted on top of the upper receiver behind the charging knob.
Construction pairs a tubular steel upper with a polymer lower reinforced by steel inserts. The grip-frame is a one-piece polymer lower with an integral textured grip bearing molded Intratec roundel logos, and the overall finish is black. Sighting is via fixed iron sights, with a stamped front blade integral to the shroud and a fixed rear open notch.
Factory markings on the magwell read "INTRATEC MIAMI FLA 9 MM LUGER MOD. TEC-9 PATENTS PENDING," confirming U.S. manufacture. The production timeframe for this example falls between 1987 and 1990.
