The MPX platform uses a short-stroke gas piston system in a 9mm SBR configuration, delivering smooth cycling in a compact 8 inch-barrel package. The receiver is aluminum with a matte black anodized finish and is marked "SIG MPX MULTI-CAL." with the SIG logo. Factory markings read "SIG SAUER INC NEWINGTON NH USA."
The rifle wears a free-float M-LOK aluminum handguard and a top Picatinny rail on the receiver; the handguard’s 12-o’clock surface is smooth without Picatinny sections. This configuration supports straightforward mounting at the receiver with M-LOK accessory placement along the handguard.
Controls follow an AR-style layout with an ambidextrous manual safety featuring pictogram positions. It has a right-side magazine release and a left-side bolt catch with extended paddles for efficient manipulation. The upgraded Radian Raptor-L ambidextrous charging handle enhances purchase and bilateral operation.
The side-folding stock uses a metal folding hinge and metal strut with a polymer butt section, locks in place, and provides a length of pull of 13.25 inches.
