The Competitor HD Metal variant uses a robust steel frame finished in matte black, part of the Performance Center line. It carries the "SMITH & WESSON Maryville, TN USA" marking and is listed under SKU/mfg part number 14068. This configuration is the No-Thumb-Safety (NTS) version.
The long slide is aggressively lightened with windows and features front and top serrations for positive purchase. The 5 in spiral-fluted barrel and the optic-cut slide come set up here with a DeltaPoint-footprint adapter plate already mounted. Sights are a green fiber-optic front and a plain black rear notch for a crisp, daylight-focused sight picture.
Upgrades on this pistol include an Apex flat-faced trigger, a Carver Custom tungsten uncaptured guide rod, and a Calculated Kinetics grip-weight insert. The original OEM guide rod and OEM grip insert are included.
Capacity is 20+1 and the pistol comes with four 20-round steel magazines with extended base pads. It is striker-fired with a flat-faced trigger and a trigger safety blade. The dust cover integrates a three-slot Picatinny rail for accessories. Factory markings indicate it can fire with the magazine removed (no magazine disconnect).
