The M&P 5.7 uses S&W's TEMPO two-piece barrel that remains locked until optimal pressure levels are reached, pairing a gas-operated locked-breech with an internal hammer-fired, single-action system. The stainless steel barrel is threaded 1/2x28 and treated with Armornite for durability.
The slide is stainless steel with a black Armornite finish, factory optics cut, and lightening cuts. Steel, drift-adjustable 3-dot sights sit over a 7.125-inch sight radius, with a white-dot front and two-dot rear to provide a clear, conventional sight picture out of the box.
The black polymer frame carries the M&P texture with the S&W roundel, an ambidextrous slide stop, and a reversible magazine release. A flat-face trigger with an integrated trigger safety complements the control layout. A Picatinny accessory rail supports common weapon-mounted lights or accessories.
